ok so i stated a while back as goal for this upcoming new years to spend more time reading... however i have fallen off the wagon... but partially because the time i "thought" i would be able to read, during the boys naps, has quickly been shaken. Eli evidently believes he is "too big" to nap, which in part is a good thing because now he sleeps better at night, whereas before it would take ages to get him to fall asleep and he would often wake up between 2-5 for hours on end wide awake. pretty sure the sleeping disorders going on between our two families have been compounded in his little body. taking the nap away has helped immensely. all that to say is my reading time is very limited... and maybe because i would like to be a reader much more than i actually am a reader it might not be the first thing i choose to do after a busy day.
so i figured i would give myself some homework for the summer:
RADICAL by David Platt (my new favorite pastor)
ADOPTED FOR LIFE by Russel D Moore
i know for some of you avid readers this seems like a menial task but for me who its an effort to sit down and read im starting with two and if i make it then i will add to the list... but i dont want to get overwhelmed with too much

seriously???
so what is this world coming to???
7 year olds performing VERY provocative dancing to Beyonce's hit song, Single Ladies. Not only do these little girls "dancing" make me puke, their "uniform" is right out of some langerie store. it's no wonder so many guys struggle with pornography if this is considered acceptable, not to mention that this is along the lines of kiddie porn. this confirms the tug in my heart to adopt little girls to keep them from sex trafficing or selling their bodies in order to eat.
one of my favoritest (yes i know, not a real word) singer and songwriters came out of the closet as of recent... what a hot topic. makes me sad. God has used her so much in my life and one of the things i love about her music is that she is raw, real, and open... yet clearly not necessarily as honest as i once thought.
another artist who is also a worship leader at a well renoun church has had an affair on his wife. my heart breaks for their family as they now face the reprocussions and aftermath of this shocking news. makes me realize just how much more i need to pray for my own marriage an those around me who are in leadership roles.

licking the beaters
so some of you mama's are so ashamed that i would even dare allow my children to lick the batter off the beaters... you know there is something about raw eggs causing salmonella... if it means anything i get fresh eggs from chris' cousin and they are cage free, free range, organic, homemade, deliciously fresh! ok so basically my rule of thumb is im depriving my children of awesome childhood memories if i didnt allow them to lick the beaters! so here are the boys on their first birthdays... see they look nothing alike. side note... i actually like baking when they are not around as i LOVE eating the batter way more than the actual cake!
